Payroll - Where does it start?

Most of our payroll clients pay $100 - $350 per month. It starts with the questions "how many employees do you have?" and "what amounts do you pay?"

Most single member S-Corps have a low maintenance payroll. But, what do you do if you have other employees?

1. New Hire Paperwork

You'll need new employees to start new hire paperwork.  Here is our 2020 sample packet

2. Know your liability

When you hire employees, know your state and federal regulations - this is a potential liability for new employers.

You should also know which payroll taxes you will be responsible for, and when you will need to pay those (quarterly, annually?). These are potential risks for late fees and fines. Which forms will you file and when?

3. Get some help!

Our business coaching services can teach you some of the basic requirements for payroll if $100 per quarter or month is outside your budget. We recommend you using a professional (and local) payroll service whenever possible. If that doesn't fit your budget, using a software like QuickBooks or Gusto is your next best bet (around $80 per month). Whether it's $80 a month or $100  - we recommend that you get some help on your questions!
